The human face is a constant inspiration to me.  I especially love the look of character in a face, something that stands out to make that person intriguing.  My goal is to incorporate that into the portrait so it becomes not only a likeness of one's face but also of one's personality.Click on thumbnail to see the entire image. About Barbara Kennedy

Barbara Kennedy's not trying to make big statements in her art. The work just happens to evoke the miraculous when she was only planning to introduce you to some of her friends (in the human and plant world). She's like someone you drop in on now and then, who looks at you for a minute and then says, "Oh, excuse me a minute, I'm just gonna go off in the next room for a minute and push some paint around. There's brownies on the table and a pie in the pantry. And by the way, did you notice how stupendously beautiful the world is? Back in a minute."

If Judy Chicago, Georgia O'Keeffe, and all those psychedelic poster makers from the 60s woke up together one day in the person of Barbara Kennedy, this is what would come pouring through their fingers onto canvas. It already does.

News and Upcoming Shows

The Krewe of Krazo is hosting an Arti Gras Art Exhibit, February 14th, 15th, and 16th from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily at the Rowdy Beaver Restaurant, HWY 62 West, Eureka Springs, AR. The exhibit is open to the public and admission is free. Because the art is "tastefully risque," guests must be over the age of twenty-one to attend.  Paintings and photographs created by fourteen of the area's most prominent artists will be featured. An open reception to honor the artists will be held at the Rowdy Beaver Restaurant on February 15th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Members of the Roi Regency (Kings and Queens of Mardi Gras) will make celebrity appearances in royal attire during the reception.
